Tatenokawa Phoenix 18 Junmai Daiginjo is the latest collaboration between Tatenokawa and the French rock band Phoenix, following their previous joint projects. Created to commemorate Phoenix’s Japan tour in 2023, the expression draws inspiration from the band’s ALPHA ZULU album and its “Winter Solstice” music video, which also serves as the motif for the packaging. Made with Yamada Nishiki from Hyogo Prefecture and polished to 18%, it highlights the refined character of this highly regarded rice variety. The band members took part in numerous tastings during its development, reflecting their pursuit of precision and the minimalist idea that “less is more.”
